My name is Amber Nest, and I am a freelance graphic designer based on the Gold Coast. Last year I graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Creative Arts and Design (Graphic Design) I also have a Diploma of Multimedia and I have also studied Web Design and Development with Tractor School of Design.
I have a passion for typography, animation and all things design. Great design begins with experimentation. It is a combination of hard work, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness. I believe you get back what you put in.
I am inspired by nature, history and weirdness. I believe design can effect positive change in the world and add value to a product, service or an experience. Design is functional. Good design is accessible. Great design is universal. Design is not exclusionary; anyone can learn and gain the skills required to design. But this also applies to designs themselves. My goal as a designer is to make my products as accessible as possible. This means multi-language support (where available,) affordability and compatibility. Design is an influential and powerful tool that can change the world.
I believe in social justice, sustainability, logic and responsibility. With this in mind, both education in design, and designs that educate, inspire and empower in matters of inequity and science are my highest ambition.
I believe that if you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Simply doing no harm won’t solve anything; apathy is worse than ignorance. I believe you never fail until you stop. With time and patience anything is possible.
My goal is to educate, create, inspire and innovate; with the ultimate goal of helping others to make the world more beautiful.
I want to change the world one pixel at a time.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a freelance graphic designer it’s how to wear many different hats. One is my not stating the obvious hat, and another hat of mine is creating charts. Below is a chart, or infographic, if you prefer, of my skills.
